Density is mentioned a couple times in the How It's Made video. One example is when after they crush the batteries they put all of the pieces into water where the plastic floats and the lead sinks because the lead is denser than the plastic. Another example is precipitation of the lead and the water. Precipitate means to separate a substance in solid form from asolution, as by means of a reagent. In this process the lead settles to the bottom of a tank of water and chemicals to clean the water. The last example is when the lead is almost pure workers scrape off the impurities in the lead as the lead is poured into molds because the impurities are less dense than the lead.
