Properties of a Candle
We lit candles to see them in each state of matter: solid, liquid, and gas. First, we observed the candle as a solid. The candle is unlit in this state. Some observations of the solid form is that it smells like cinnamon, it is red, and it feels waxy. After we lit the candle, we were able to view it in its liquid state as the wax melted. We could observe that when in the liquid stage the candle wax becomes clear and a deeper red color, also it gives off a stronger cinnamon smell. Finally, when the candle is burning it gives off gases. We observed that in this stage the gas radiated off the candle as heat. Also it made the aroma of the candle diffuse into the air. Finally we could conclude that this gas is in fact invisible. Below is a picture of the candle when it would be giving off a gas.
